We’re only halfway through 2022, there have already been a lot of great projects this year. If you like blockbuster rap albums, everyone from Kendrick Lamar to Future to Gunna have delivered exactly that. If you’re a fan of up-and-comers, there have been memorable releases from rising stars like Yeat, Redveil, Latto, $NOT, and many more. Or if lyrically-minded underground rap is your speed, new albums from artists like YL, Fly Anakin, and billy woods are for you. And of course, there are plenty of arena-ready projects from A-list pop and R&B stars like The Weeknd, Rosalía, and Harry Styles, too. There’s really been something for everyone so far.
As we head into summer, concerts and music festivals have fully returned, and we’re once again being treated to major new releases every Friday. Of course, with all of this new music comes the challenge of sifting through it all. With that in mind, the Complex Music team put together a ranking of the best albums of the year so far. Without further ado, these are Complex’s picks for the 50 best albums of the year so far.
